Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

One of the better-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Helping out with even the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people that David & Margaret serves.

These are the areas we are seeking volunteers in:

Mentors: Volunteer mentors are matched either with teenage girls in the residential program or young adults (ages 18-25) who are transitioning out of foster care.

Intern: College students receive college credit for a semester-long internship working with a specific program and under the supervision of staff who will support their educational goals.

Motivational Speakers: Professional businesspeople talk to residents and transitional age youth about their careers, the path they took to get there, and the skills they needed.

Recreation: Teach or lead crafts or fitness activities with small groups of our girls to help make their free time more enjoyable, therapeutic, and productive. Volunteers with special skills in areas such as music, yoga, or martial arts are especially desired.

Ministry Aides: Members of different faiths provide transportation to and from their house of worship, and give the girls an opportunity to participate in special activities there.

Recovery Sponsors: Adult women in recovery sponsor teenage girls in the process of becoming clean and sober. Sponsors go with them to group meetings, provide ongoing one-on-one support, and help them envision a future free of drugs and alcohol.

Administrative Volunteers: Individuals with experience and/or interest in marketing, public relations, or fundraising contribute their creative ideas, guidance, and community connections. Persons with clerical skills are needed to help with filing, data entry, making copies, and other general office duties.

Holiday Volunteers: Help organize and wrap holiday gifts.

Maintenance/Landscaping: Help our maintenance staff with painting, carpentry, gardening, and tree pruning.

The Store @ David & Margaret: Assist with the sorting, organizing and distribution of donated items in our nonprofit store.
