Seasonal, Pandemic Mental Health Awareness

Seasonal, Pandemic Mental Health Awareness

For some, the holiday season brings feelings of excitement and cheer but for others, it can trigger feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, or even depression. It is not uncommon to develop seasonal mental health issues and it is even more prevalent this year due to the uncertainty brought on by the pandemic.

This is a subject surrounded by misconceptions especially when it comes to children. Like adults, children can also struggle with their mental health. The most common disorders children face that fall under the umbrella of Mental Health are depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and behavioral disorders like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

It can be challenging to identify, but children often exhibit behaviors that indicate an underlying mental health issue. If you notice your child is withdrawing from usual activities, acting out, becoming defiant, or becoming physically aggressive it may be a sign that your child could use some extra support regarding their mental wellbeing.

Anyone can experience mental health issues, regardless of age, gender, class, or status and there is no shame in contacting an expert for help. If you feel your child needs support, please reach out, you do not need to go through this alone.

David & Margaret has an experienced team of mental health professionals who specialize in child and youth care. Telehealth appointments are available ensuring the utmost safety of all participants.

Call today and get on the path to mental wellness.
