Youth Workforce Training Center

Building Job & Life Skills for Self Sufficiency

Many youth transitioning out of the foster care system have no prior experience in seeking, applying and interviewing for, or holding a job. The scope of the training they need to prepare for the workplace includes both workplace and life skills.

David & Margaret’s Youth Workforce Training Program develops the skills that prepare these young people for self-sufficiency and successful transition into society. Our Youth Workforce Training Center provides a place to gain the skills our clients need to search for employment, interview properly, and secure a stable job. The Center, located at 1351 Palomares St., La Verne (on our south campus) comprises:

  • open to the public, with culinary internships, providing on-the-job training. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

  • A not-for-profit retail store, open to the public, which provides low-cost food and household merchandise to the general public and low-income families. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

  • A training lab

which provides a central location to apply for jobs, create and build résumés, prepare for interviews, and explore educational opportunities.
