Eating for a Better Future for Foster Youth!
Dave & Maggie’s Café is part of David & Margaret Youth and Family Service’s social enterprise. The Cafe provides part-time paid culinary internships for youth who are transitioning out of foster care. Young adults have the opportunity to establish a work history and gain marketable restaurant and business experience in the restaurant field in a supportive and caring environment. Once they complete their internships they have access to an employment specialist who will help them transition to a permanent position. Proceeds from the cafe are reinvested into the operations to support workforce training and mentoring activities, allowing the cafe to employ at-risk youth and young adults.
The café offers light breakfast, lunch, and snack items, and is an ideal location for informal one-on-one or small group meetings
Open Monday - Saturday 7:00am - 3:30pm
With every order you are supporting youth aging out of foster care as they learn new skills and gain self-sufficiency.

Youth Aging Out of Foster Care Face Greater Challenges Than Their Peers
Youth aging out of foster care are in many ways, like other young adults, not quite ready to be out on their own. Unlike other young adults they face numerous other challenges such as:
Nearly half of foster youth have learning disabilities or delays.
Only 58% of young people in foster care graduate from high school.
Only 3% graduate from college.
Foster youth do not have the support and guidance of a family to help them navigate the road to adulthood.
Half of youth who have aged out of foster care end up homeless or incarcerated*
Dave & Maggie's Cafe is a valuable resource for youth as they travel into adulthood.
